General Questions:

Yes, we have confirmation on file that no gluten is added and that none is present in our products. However, our manufacturing facility is NOT a gluten-free facility, and because we process products that contain gluten, we cannot confirm with 100% certainty that there is no possibility of cross-contamination.

ISURA is an independent organization that is not part of WomenSense. ISURA is a product certification organization for the natural health supplement and food industries, primarily serving as an analytical competence centre for analyzing natural health products and technical materials at all stages of processing. ISURA offers advanced analytical methods, such as mass spectrometry, to ensure the purity and potency of natural health products. Some of the product certification services include:

  • Non-GMO and organically grown
  • Product potency and integrity
  • Contaminant-free status, including pesticides, solvents, and heavy metals

Perimenopause is the 10–15 years before menopause, during which it’s common for women to experience a multitude of hormonal complaints as their hormones shift. Menopause is defined as one year without a menstrual period. During perimenopause and menopause, women may experience a range of symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, memory problems, fatigue, weight gain, loss of libido, and headaches.

Powdered products can naturally harden over time if they’re exposed to moisture, oxygen, or temperature changes during regular use. This may cause clumping or a firmer texture, but it does not affect the product’s quality or effectiveness.

At Assured Natural, we choose not to use chemical additives, deodorizers, or anti‑caking agents, so some natural clumping is expected.

You can continue using the product as long as you can safely break it apart with a clean spoon. Some of our products include a desiccant packet to help reduce moisture, but if the powder has hardened, gently loosening it is usually all that’s needed.

Adding your powdered product to room temperature or slightly warmer water to dissolve it should be fine. However, we do not recommend adding it to boiling or very hot water, as this may affect its efficacy.

When the containers are initially filled, they are filled to an appropriate level. During shipping and handling, the powder naturally settles and becomes more compact. Upon opening, the container may appear less full or larger than necessary. This is not the case, and it is quite normal for any powdered product to settle during shipping. Rest assured that each scoop of powder still provides the full amount of nutrients as listed on the product label.

The containers we use are determined based on product fill and required label information. Sometimes we use a larger container because we are required to include a considerable amount of information on our labels to meet Health Canada regulations and ensure the text is clear, readable, and easy for customers to understand. We must adhere to the requirements of label laws and Health Canada – and that also includes having all information in both English and French, which is why we also use peel-back (double-sided) labels for French on some of our products.

Yes, various WomenSense products can be combined together, as many are designed to complement each other and support well-being. As a manufacturer, we are unable to offer medical advice or suggest treatment. Because certain prescription drugs may interact with herbal medicines and supplements, we always recommend consulting with a qualified health care practitioner before use.

ADRENASENSE®:

Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus) is not a true ginseng, but it is called one because of its adaptogenic properties. It has been shown to support the body’s response to physical and mental stress. Siberian ginseng is used in herbal medicine as a tonic to help relieve general debility and improve mental and/or physical performance after periods of exertion.

It is recommended to take AdrenaSense earlier in the day (i.e., with breakfast and/or lunch) as the herbs in this formula, such as rhodiola and Siberian ginseng, may be stimulating in some people. However, because AdrenaSense supports adrenal gland function, it may help balance cortisol levels and, in turn, support melatonin production for improved sleep.

ESTROSENSE®:

The strong smell of EstroSense comes from glucosinolates, sulphur-containing compounds found in cruciferous vegetables. In EstroSense, these include compounds such as indole-3-carbinol and sulforaphane. All ingredients used in our products are only sourced from the highest-quality suppliers and always meet the quality standards established by the Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD). The noticeable variations in the smell of EstroSense are normal and can be attributed to the inherent aromas of the raw materials used in the product’s formulation.

The iron deficiency caution on our EstroSense label is based on the Health Canada Green Tea Extract Monograph. Green tea contains tannins that form complexes with iron in the digestive tract, affecting its absorption. This interaction reduces iron absorption, particularly from plant-based iron sources.

Sulforaphane is a naturally occurring compound found in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables and is obtained from broccoli. It is not related to sulfa drugs and does not contain sulfonamides.

Yes, we have confirmation on file that this ingredient is non-GMO.

EstroSense can be taken while on the birth control pill or as directed by a health care practitioner. This supplement will help support estrogen metabolism. EstroSense does not reduce the effectiveness of the birth control pill; however, it is best to consult with your health care practitioner before use.

You can continue to take EstroSense during your period; there is no need to stop.

While on the birth control pill, EstroSense will help support estrogen metabolism and the processing of hormone by-products into safer metabolites. EstroSense may also be beneficial once an individual comes off the birth control pill, as hormonal cycles begin to rebalance.

We use milk thistle seed extracts in EstroSense. This ingredient is not estrogenic.

Calcium D-glucarate contains 16.15% calcium. Therefore, each capsule of EstroSense contains 12 mg of elemental calcium (or 36 mg per 3-capsule dose).

Any woman, from the time she gets her first menstrual cycle through menopause, can take EstroSense. Even if a woman has stopped menstruating, she will still be exposed daily to exogenous estrogens from the environment (xenoestrogens), which can disrupt hormone balance. Postmenopausal women who take MHT (menopause hormone therapy) can also benefit from using EstroSense.

As long as you take the recommended dosage within a 12-hour day, then it really doesn’t matter what time you take the EstroSense capsules. Many prefer to take 1 capsule with each meal – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If someone would rather take all 3 capsules at once daily with food, that is fine too.

It is best to use EstroSense consistently for 2–3 menstrual cycles to notice a difference.

Yes, these two supplements can generally be taken together, because ultimately EstroSense and MenoSense do different things: EstroSense helps support estrogen metabolism, while MenoSense helps alleviate menopausal symptoms (such as hot flashes and night sweats). Consult with a health care practitioner for more guidance.

Yes, men can take EstroSense. Just as women can experience estrogen imbalance from exposure to xenoestrogens (estrogens from the environment), so can men. Calcium-D-glucarate, indole-3-carbinol, and sulforaphane help support estrogen metabolism and elimination. Milk thistle, curcumin, lycopene, green tea, and rosemary are potent antioxidants. All these ingredients are suitable for men and women.

No, this product is soy-free.

HappySense®:

HappySense is suitable for adults as a mood elevator designed to help promote healthy mood balance and better sleep. However, if you are taking MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, or St. John’s wort, you should not take 5-HTP without first discussing it with a health care practitioner. Please review the caution label for additional information, and as a best practice, discuss use with a health care practitioner before starting.

L-tryptophan converts into 5-HTP, which then converts into serotonin and subsequently melatonin. Because 5-HTP is one step closer to serotonin, it may be more readily available for serotonin production compared to L-tryptophan.

Peak-X is afamily of contaminants that have been found in commercially available 5-HTP products. HappySense is rigorously tested for Peak-X to ensure this compound is absent from our final product. Rest assured, our HappySense does not contain Peak-X. In addition, all WomenSense products are ISURA certified, independently verified as clean and safe, and tested for up to 800 possible contaminants.

MagSense®:

Magnesium bisglycinate is a form of magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine, which improves its bioavailability. Magnesium bisglycinate is also gentler on the digestive system and less likely to cause stomach upset, as is commonly seen with other forms of magnesium.

MENOSENSE:

This is a government regulatory requirement that must be shown on our labels once the NPN (natural product number) is issued. Many women have been using this product for well over a year with no concerns. However, as a precaution, we do recommend you consult your health care practitioner.

Sage Leaf:

Sage is traditionally used in herbal medicine to reduce excess perspiration (sweating). It is often recommended to support uncomfortable symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and excess perspiration.

Yes, for sure! Sage can be effective at relieving hot flashes in some people.

Yes, men can use Sage for excess perspiration. However, men who experience hot flashes should consult their health care practitioner, as this can sometimes indicate an underlying health issue.

ThyroSense®:

Yes, individuals who no longer have a thyroid gland can still benefit from taking ThyroSense. Most individuals without a thyroid gland are already on a doctor-prescribed synthetic T4 (levothyroxine). Most of the conversion of T4 into T3 (the more active thyroid hormone) occurs in peripheral tissues, meaning certain ingredients in ThyroSense can support this conversion process and thyroid hormone activity.

es, ThyroSense is designed to work in conjunction with your thyroid medication for an underactive thyroid. Take Synthroid first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and then take 2 capsules of ThyroSense with breakfast (at least 1 hour apart). Some individuals may require 2 capsules twice daily with food (e.g., breakfast and lunch).

ThyroSense is suitable for people with an underactive thyroid but not for those with an overactive thyroid.

There are no specific foods to avoid when taking ThyroSense. However, calcium, iron, and antacids should be avoided within 4 hours before or after taking ThyroSense, as their use may affect absorption. If you are taking prescribed thyroid medication, it is recommended to separate it from ThyroSense by at least 1 hour.

Yes, absolutely – all the same information that applies to women and thyroid issues would apply to men.

Vitex:

It is generally not advised to take Vitex (chasteberry extract) when taking hormone-containing medication such as progesterone preparations, oral contraceptives (such as the birth control pill or a hormone-based IUD), or MHT. Consult a health care practitioner for more guidance.
